CORANTO // DOCUMENTATION
:. Unable to open /path/to/file.txt. No such file or directory at crcore.pl line 281. 2004-07-17

This problem is somewhat related to the "Permission denied" message. It is actually a message originating from Perl and not Coranto itself, but Coranto provides a framework for dealing with files and the specific line that tries to open the file is located at that line in that file (the actual line number can differ depending on Coranto version). The thing is that it isnīt really that line of code that has some kind of error in it, or any other line of code either for that matter, it is just that the file that Coranto is trying to open does not exist at the specified path.

The root of this problem is probably caused by some path settings that is not correct somewhere. FTP to your server and verify that the file exists. If the file doesnīt exist we first focus on the filename alone, is this a file that you recognise and know where it is being used?

For example, if the name of the file is newsdat.txt (which it is the file used by Coranto to store all itīs newsitems in) you may want to check that you have set the correct paths under the headline "File Paths" in Coranto -> Administration -> Change Settings. Or, if you know that this file is used by a specific addon, check out the documentation for that addon that you have set up the path(s) correctly.

If you do see the file at the specified path when you FTP to the server you have to remember that you always start your session in the users home directory, which often looks something like this: /home/username/ but this "prefix" path is not shown in your FTP client so you might be mistaken and think that the path /path/to/file.txt you have specified is correct, but maybe it should be /home/username/path/to/file.txt instead? If you donīt know the path to your home directory contact your host ask them, they know!

If you still canīt figure out why this file canīt be opened post a message in the forum, stating that you have read this document and explain what measures you have taken thus far to pinpoint the problem.
